Jinx

It feels weird to talk about that here, to share that with you. As you may have guessed already, this is not an usual blog post. Still, this is a part of my journey so it fits here I guess.

What could go wrong ? The title of this blog is humorous. It’s a way to look in the eye the fear to leave behind the secured place of everyday life and go travel around. It’s an acceptance that things will probably go south at some points and that it is ok. It’s worth it. Usually …

I met Jinx on my first day in New-Zealand. My sister Emeline spend a lot of times with her. You could tell that there was something special between those two.

Less than 50kg of chinese girl, Jinx was always joyful, teasing everyone around her. After our first road trip, we met her again for Christmas, where I had a great discussion with her about China and their neighbors, especially Taiwan .

January the 4th, less than two weeks after Christmas, Emeline got a phone call. You could tell that something was wrong. When asked in French what was going on, she could only reply with the broken English of someone in shock.

She had a car accident on her way to Christchurch. She was 26 years old.

Damn  …

Obviously, things have been quite rough and really complicated after that, especially for Emeline, but I won’t talk about that here.

But don’t worry too much, things do get better after some time …
